Sing, Sing, Sing for Jazz Ensemble

Believe it or not, this Benny Goodman classic has never been available for standard big band instrumentation. The original contains solo clarinet and less than a full compliment of brass, so we asked arranger Mike Lewis to adapt this classic tune for five saxes, four trumpets, and four trombones with rhythm section, without straying from the original feel. His chart does just that, creating a welcome addition to any jazz band library. We know you'll enjoy it! Medium (4:15)

The Sermon for Jazz Ensemble

Score and Parts
What a great chart! The Sermon seemlessly integrates gospel, rock, jazz, and Dixieland. The sax section is featured prominently throughout, and the rest of the ensemble gets plenty of exciting material as well. The melody is a strong hook and is naturally developed throughout the chart, including a short Dixieland section that includes an optional clarinet for a really authentic sound.

Zigeunerweisen (Gypsy Airs) Op. 20, No. 1

Zigeunerweisen (Gypsy Airs), Op. 20, is a musical composition for violin and orchestra written in 1878 by the Spanish composer Pablo de Sarasate. It was premiered the same year in Leipzig, Germany. Zigeunerweisen is scored for solo violin and an orchestra consisting of two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets in B-flat, two bassoons, two horns in F, two trumpets in F, timpani (in G-C and then E-A), triangle, and strings.

Jubilate Deo

Dan Forrest's Jubilate Deo brings to life the global aspect of the traditional Psalm 100 text, “O be joyful in the Lord, all ye lands,” by setting it in seven different languages and drawing from a wide spectrum of musical influences. Each movement combines some characteristics of its language-group's musical culture with the composer's own musical language. Movements include liturgical Latin, intertwined Hebrew and Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Zulu, Spanish, Song of the Earth (untexted), and a closing movement combining several of these languages with English. The result is a stunning global celebration of joy, as all the earth sings as one, “omnis terra, jubilate!”

Scored for mixed choir with soprano and alto soli and optional treble choir, with three instrumentations available. Performance time 45-50 minutes. Commissioned and premiered by Henry Leck and the Indianapolis Children's Choirs, April 2016
