Return Policy

Customer’s Responsibility
Customer must call 801-266-3537 for all returns prior to mailing. If a customer has made a mistake on their order, but we fulfilled the order correctly, then the responsibility rests upon the customer to pay for the shipping upon return. We cannot be held responsible for items damaged or lost in return shipment, therefore we recommend an insured and traceable mail service. If this order was a special order and was not pulled from our regular stock, the customer may be charged a 15% restocking fee, if the publisher refuses the return. We aim to accept all returns. In the unlikely event that an item is returned to us in an unsuitable condition, we may have to send it back to you. All goods will be inspected on return.

Local Returns
If the customer lives close to one of our locations, they are welcome to hand deliver the return. The 15% restocking fee may still apply if the special order was a mistake on the customer’s side.

Day Murray Music’s Responsibility
When the wrong item(s) or wrong quantities are received or items are defective due to publisher’s fault or through shipping, then DMM will be held responsible for correcting the problem and will pay in full for the return costs. For small orders, it may be more advantageous to send correct items at no charge with no return of incorrect items.

Change of Mind
If the item is in pristine selling condition, we can take back the return at no extra charge, since we can resell it on our floor. We also accept pre-authorized returns of web orders. However, with special orders (which we do not regularly stock), a 15% restocking fee may apply.

Refunds
How do we give refunds to the orders that qualify? Store credit on the customer’s account (like an in-store gift card) or full refund, except a restocking fee if applicable and postage, will be given for pre-authorized, resalable items. This will be given once we have received and inspected the returned product. Refunds exclude the initial shipping costs of the order. The customer has 30 days in which to make the return from the time of the sale, or date on the receipt, even if they live out-of-state.

  • The customer will be given a return number to be included with the return. 
  • Items must be packaged securely; credit will not be issued for damaged items. 

Sheet Music Authority will not issue refunds for products purchased through other entities, such as distributors or retail partners. For all questions regarding a return, prior to mailing the product to us, do one of the following:

Exchanges
Items also have the option to be exchanged. The 15% restocking fee on special orders may apply. All other exchanges occur at no extra cost other than shipping costs which may be applied to the customer.

No Returns On:

  • Seasonal items once that season, holiday, and opportunity to resell has passed.
  • Used choral music.
  • Soiled or damaged music in any way. Return items must be in pristine condition.
  • When items are past the 30 days allotted at the time of receipt.
  • Unless previously authorized.

The refund will be issued upon review of the return condition in a 10 day period from receiving an authorized return. Day Murray Music will finalize the return with a refund. If the item is a “special order” 15% of the refund will be deducted for a restocking fee.
