John Helgen's newest piece for women's choir, Lift Up the Name of the Lord (Ed. 6368) was written in honor of conductor Sigrid Johnson at the time of her retirement from leading the Manitou Singers of St. Olaf College for 32 years. With text based on Psalms 66 and 67, the piece is set in a gospel style which will feature your singers as well as your piano player. Initial refrains and bridge section are succeeded by a “breakdown” section featuring the altos, with sopranos layered in above, building to a powerful ending. A perfect choice to for the beginning or ending of your program!
