Description

This a cappella work is the second movement of Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's cantata of the same name (op. 23, no. 1). Composed in the style of Bach with imitative counterpoint, this setting of Psalm 130 captures the mood of the text (“Out of the depths I cry to you”) through chromatically ascending and descending lines and dramatic moments of growth.
