Franz Doppler (1821-1883), a celebrated 19th-century virtuoso flutist and composer, is best known for his virtuosic and expressive writing for the flute. His Andante et Rondo, Op. 25, originally composed for two flutes and piano, showcases the lyrical beauty and technical brilliance characteristic of the Romantic flute repertoire. In this advanced flute quartet arrangement, the first and second flutes play the original flute duo parts, while the piano accompaniment is adapted for alto and bass flutes.
