It incorporates pitched recitation of the text by soloists; and adaptation of William Byrd's Turbarum Voces (Voices of the Crowds, from Passio Domini nostri Jesu Christi secundum Johannem, in Gradualia I, 1605); and Passiontide hymns if four parts.
